Getting to Gainesville

Getting to Gainesville

By Air

For many of our out of state students and families, getting to Gainesville requires flying! Gainesville has a great airport just 15 minutes from campus. Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) has flights multiple times daily to Atlanta (Delta), Charlotte (American), and Miami (American). Once you arrive at the Gainesville Airport, the RTS bus will bring you right to the heart of campus. The RTS bus is free for students with a valid UFID card. Family members can ride the bus for just $1.50 each way.

Gainesville is also two hours or less from three international airports.

– Jacksonville (JAX) – 1 hour, 33 minutes (Get Directions)
– Orlando (MCO) – 1 hour 47 minutes (Get Directions)
– Tampa (TPA) – 2 hours 10 minutes (Get Directions)

By Train

The nearest Amtrak station is located just 14 miles north of Gainesville in the town of Waldo. Visitors can take a bus from the Amtrak station to the RTS downtown station, just 14 blocks east of campus.

By Bus

There are several bus companies with pick up locations on campus at the University of Florida. While the University does not endorse any specific bus company, we have provided a list of the buses that provide this service.

– GMG Transport
– Greyhound
– Megabus
– RedCoach
